Peer-review is considered the "gold standard" of evaluating original scientific work. Two or three independent experts are invited by the (associate) editor to complete their evaluation within 2 to 6 weeks.
Peer-review includes critical scrutinizing of scientific ideas providing constructive and fair feedback. Both the authors and reviewers benefit from this process. Here are the journals listed that I am occasionally and regularly reviewing for:
